After arriving from India in 1991 Daksha and Suketu Desai started a catering business in the Bay Area. Daksha, or Deedee as her customers like to call her, provided lunches for a group of anthropologists at Stanford University. Business grew and a new demand for home-style authentic Indian food allowed for Daksha to start her very own restaurant in 1998- deedee’s.

Deedee’s has a reputation for being a casual environment where customers can eat and feel as if they were back home. Our menu is constantly changing in order to provide new and innovative recipes to our loyal customers. Items, like the Veggie Burger and Mango Lassi, have also been added to our menu upon customer request as an effort to provide our customers not only with great tasting food, but also with choices that they crave.

In addition to providing healthy vegetarian food for Mountain View and its surrounding cities deedee’s has taken an active role in the community. Daksha and Suketu Desai have donated their time, food, and services to raise funds for organizations like Jeena, The Chinmayanand Mission, Bay Area Vaishnav Parivar-BAYVP, India Cultural Association-ICA, and Charitable Care Foundation-CCF.

On November 24th 2007 more than hundred and fifty friends and well wishers including NRI businessmen, lawyers, IT engineers, doctors of Indian origin gathered at Deedee’s restaurant to celebrate 15 years of service to it’s patrons as well as to launch two new books by local Indian authors.

Unfortunately, in mid December the lease for deedee’s at 2551 W. Middlefield Rd. came to an end and deedee’s had to be relocated. An attempt is being made right now to relocate the restaurant to 2218 Middlefield Rd. in order to remain close to our customers, however this attempt is being met by opposition from the city of Mountain View. As the search for a new location continues our customers can look to this website to get the most current information on where deedee’s will relocate to and what services we continue to provide.

At present Deedee’s has rented a kitchen to serve its customers with take-out and catering services for large and small events.

INDIA TODAY: “The 10 year old restaurant stands apart from most other Indian restaurants in the valley that serve almost all types of Indian food.”

PALO ALTO DAILY NEWS: "Indian food at it’s finest! Meet Daksha, or as her fans prefer to call her, deedee. She is responsible for satisfying many Indian food lovers and converting skeptics into Indian food lovers.”
